My Daybook- August 31st 2009

FOR TODAY August 31st, 2009…

Outside my window… It is a beautiful day! Warmer than the end of August usually is around here!

I am thinking… about how much fun we had this weekend. We went to a wedding on Nathaniel’s side of the family and is was huge (he has 200 first cousins)! It was great seeing everyone and visiting, I wish my family was that big.

I am thankful for… the huge bag of beautiful clothes we got from one of Nathaniel’s cousins for Mary. I was just running out of clothes for her and now I have everything I could possibly need for the next year! Such a blessing.

From the learning rooms… We are slowly and surely getting into a school routine. Mary learns things much quicker than I expected her to so I am having to relook at my plans and make them a little more challenging.

From the kitchen… lots and lots of canning! We are working on zucchini relish today. I also have pears waiting to be made into pear sauce and asparagus waiting to be pickled. Also, bread! My new mixer and I are getting better acquainted and I am trying really hard not to buy bread anymore.

I am wearing… a tank top and comfy pants. I don’t wear comfy pants very often, I find I get a lot more done when I get up and get dressed but today I made an exception. 😉

I am creating… lots of things these days! Skirts and head bands for Mary, school plans, Montessori games.
I am going… to start potty training this week. I just can’t put it off anymore.

I am reading… books by Louisa May Alcott! Did you know she wrote tons of books? Other than the Little Women books? Right now I am reading “An Old Fashioned Girl” and it is SO CUTE!

I am hoping… the silk scarves I ordered to make play silks with come soon, Mary is going to love them!!

I am hearing… the blissful sounds of naptime. AKA nothing!

Around the house… we are finally settled in after being gone for two months. It feels so good to be home and sleeping in our own bed.

One of my favorite things… is my improved home management binder! Hooray for being organized! Blog posts coming soon.

A few plans for the rest of the week: *sigh* potty training. Pray for me!

Here is picture thought I am sharing…
Cutest kids ever or what?

That’s my girl…

While we were living at the lake this summer there was a little boy visiting next door. He was 6 and Mary loved him. They had so much fun playing together and it was great for me because then I didn’t have to entertain her! He left in the middle of August, I was sad to see him go!

I’m crafty!

Well… sort of!

I was trying to figure out something for Mary to wear to a wedding we are going to this weekend, that girl had the gall to grow out of my favourite dress of hers!! I came across a tutorial for this skirt and decided to give it a go. It was ridiculously easy and I’m so excited with how it came out!

I was all excited about my successful skirt so I decided to do a headband that matched and it was super easy too! I copied a headband she already had.

After that Luke was being so good I grabbed one of Mary’s white shirts and appliqued a m on it for her. She was so thrilled this morning when she saw it!

I’m thinking this is going to be the beginning of a long and happy relationship between me and adorable appliqued t-shirts, it is SO easy!

Two is such a fun age, I have been meaning to update things on my kids more often for my scrapbook so I have somewhere to go when I finally get around to doing more scrapbooking.

4 Months

Luke you are already almost 5 months old! I can’t believe how fast you are growing! We spent your fourth month in Prince George staying at the lake.
This month you:
-learned how to sit all by yourself!
-stare intently at food or anything else we put in our mouths, you want food so bad!
-love to play with the double cups from mommy’s coffee, they are your favourite
-think your sister is the greatest and love watching her play
-smile at anyone who looks at you
-love it when someone says BOO! and scares you, it always makes you laugh
-are starting to push yourself forwards and backwards
-roll from your belly to your back and then get frustrated that you can’t get back
-spend lots of time in your exersaucer and jolly jumper
-have two or three naps, but you’re going to drop the evening one soon

My New Baby

Step aside Luke….

I am SO in love already! This was our anniversary present this year, they were on sale at Futureshop for more than 50% off… I’m so excited!

I know they come in all sorts of fun colours but all of my appliances are stainless steal and it just fits in so well!
